Location: Fresno, CA
Pay: $39.68/hr.

Purpose and Scope:

Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) Technician II, must have a combination of experience to inspect aerospace weapon systems components and support equipment for structural integrity using nondestructive inspection methods and performs fluid analysis. Determines test method and prepares fluids and parts for nondestructive inspection. Interprets nondestructive inspection test results and provides information about defects to repair center. Analyzes wear metal content on engine lubricating oil and other fluids and recommends corrective action. Establishes radiation areas for radiographic operations. Computes and monitors personal exposure areas for radiographic operations, and monitors personnel exposure data. Performs nondestructive inspection on structures, components, and systems. Detects flaws such as cracks, delaminations, voids, processing defects, and heat damage using penetrant, eddy current, magnetic particle, radiographic, optical, and ultrasonic test equipment. Determines metallurgical information of components according to alloy, temper, conductivity, and associated factors. Operates, maintains, and inspects nondestructive equipment. Performs operator maintenance and service inspections on shop equipment and tools. Ensures lock out and tag out procedures are accomplished prior to maintenance on equipment. Performs silver recovery functions. Handles and disposes of

hazardous waste and materials. The Technical Inspector performs the following functions:

Essential Responsibilities:

1) Develops and implements quality control and ground safety programs to ensure compliance with contract specifications.

2) Inspects and verifies proper completion and documentation of safety and flight discrepancies.

3) Briefs and debriefs pilots and crew members assigned to functional check flights.

4) Evaluates personnel, including verification of skills, training, and experience.

5) Performs audits and inspections of work centers and ongoing maintenance actions, procedures, equipment, and facilities.

6) Monitors timeliness and applicability of aircraft maintenance technical data and technical library.

7) Review's maintenance source documents, aircraft inspection records, notes recurring discrepancies or trends and initiates appropriate action.

8) Manages the material deficiency and technical order improvement program. Review's engineering investigation requests. Initiates and reviews quality deficiency reports, technical deficiency reports and hazardous material reports, ensuring that they are accurate, clear, concise, and comprehensive.

9) Develops, evaluates, and submits completed work packages for historical retention.

10) Ensures that all Customer and/or Company policies and procedures are being adhered to; makes on the spot corrections or reports concerns to the appropriate supervisor.

11) Capable of performing the Mechanic I essential responsibilities.

12) Use applicable (ACN, ULLS-A (E), or SAMS-E STAMIS) type systems to input, compile and record quality assurance data.

13) Receives aircraft and explosive mishap reports and studies them for applicability. Conducts safety inspections, training, and drills.

14) May be subject to travel.

Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements:

High school graduate or equivalent is desirable. Five (5) years actual and recent, NDI experience desired; three (3) years required. Completed initial Non-Destructive Inspection Training Course and maintains basic qualification. Shall work with others and independently, predicated on the scope of complexity of operations. Shall be able to pass and maintain Government security clearance as required by the contract unit. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be able to operate a government general-purpose vehicle.

Work Environment:

The diversity of work conditions may range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject individual to severe changes of temperature, wind, rain, etc. Shall be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles.

Physical Demands:

This classification activity is usually accomplished in an office/hangar/flight line environment and as such requires the scope of physical movements and postures normally associated with office/hangar/flight line activities. Shall be required to lift objects whose weight normally will not exceed 50 pounds. Special vision abilities required to perform this job are close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus.
