Job Summary

We seek an Engineer to help us lead the change to meet the Net Zero Carbon emission goals.

The Interconnections Supervisor, Transmission Planning is responsible for leading a team that facilitates the interconnection of renewable energy projects to the electric grid. The Supervisor will work closely with external renewable energy developers, internal engineering teams, and regulatory bodies to ensure a smooth and efficient interconnection process.

Key Responsibilities



  • Project Management: Oversee the entire interconnection process, from initial feasibility studies to final energization, ensuring projects meet deadlines and budget constraints.


  • Technical Expertise: Provide technical guidance on transmission system studies, including power flow analysis, short circuit analysis, and stability studies, to ensure the grid can reliably accommodate renewable energy resources.


  • Developer Collaboration: Build and maintain strong relationships with renewable energy developers, providing clear communication and support throughout the interconnection process.


  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all interconnection activities comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including those related to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC).


  • Internal Coordination: Coordinate with internal teams, such as system operations, substation engineering, and distribution planning, to ensure successful project implementation.


  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of engineers and technicians, providing guidance and support to ensure their success.


  • Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve the interconnection process to streamline activities, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.


Required Qualifications

  • BSEE /Degree in Electrical Engineering required. Candidates from other engineering disciplines may be considered depending on relevant work experience

  • 5 years in a similar discipline and/or 7+ years (Industry related experience) with the ability to demonstrate strong leadership skills

  • Practical Engineering Experience/Application: Planning, Operations and Engineering Design, Construction (e.g. field experience, standardization, developing the business case and defending in front of stakeholders)

  • Knowledge of Regulatory and Compliance Environment: Local, State and Federal Regulatory Standards and Requirements (NERC, NPCC, ISO, PUC, etc.)

  • Power System Studies - Knowledge & Interpretation of Study Assumptions and Results (e.g., Comprehensive Area Studies, Power Flow, DER, Voltage, Contingency, Stability, Power Factor Correction, Short Circuit, Reliability, Capacity, etc.)

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively articulate complex concepts to various stakeholders.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Degrees or Certifications (e.g. MSEE, PE, etc.)

  • Prior direct supervisory experience
