Research Technician | University of Chicago (UC) - Military Veterans

Location: Chicago, IL Job Description: Assist with animal experimentation, including gnotobiotic and specific pathogen free mouse lines. Record findings/results. Maintain laboratory notebook. Help with lab maintenance, ordering of supplies, stocking shelves, clean up. Perform basic lab technique (making of buffers, pipetting, immunoblots, PCR, microscopy) Performing experiments for specific projects. Maintains technical and administrative support for a research project. Analyzes and maintains data and/or specimens. Conducts literature reviews. Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents. Performs other related work as needed. Preferred Qualifications Education: Bachelors degree in Biological Sciences or related field. Experience: R elevant research experience. Preferred Competencies Knowledge in relevant scientific field. Knowledge of research techniques or methods relevant to the lab ( using pH meter, scales, cell culture, working with microbial cultures, animal experimentation, DNA/ RNA/protein extractions, PCR, etc. ). Analytical skills. Problem-solving skills. Attention to detail. Organizational skills. Verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Adaptability and willingness to learn new skills and take on new responsibilities. Effective time-management skills.
