RESPONSIBILITIES

Howmet Fastening Systems is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to support and provide direction to the manufacturing department related to work methods, production processes, and tooling to manufacture products to desired specification and business objectives. This position reports to the Engineering department in the Kingston, NY fastener installation tooling manufacturing facility.

Job duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and modifies process sheets and operation sketches; designs tooling for production and prepares programs for NC and CNC machines using Computer Aided Machining systems and manual methods.
  • Troubleshoots manufacturing operations and provides shop support on all production related issues. Serves as the manufacturing liaison to the Product Engineering, Accounting, Quality Assurance, and Customer Service departments.
  • Reviews manufacturing operations to identify where process improvements can be made. Recommends and coordinates the implementation of process improvements.
  • Coordinates the selection, justification, and implementation of capital projects.
  • Prepares cost estimates for the production of new or revised parts and low usage items.
  • Inputs and maintains routing and Bill-Of-Material information in the Management Information System.
  • Participates in the development of the plant layout and provides plant layout drawings in support of facility engineering.
  • Recommends and implements product design and specification changes for improved quality and/or manufacturability.
Designs and draws fixtures and tools used in production. Evaluates and implements cutting tool requirements

Salary range $70,000 - $85,000

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree is required, preferred Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Three (3) years' experience in a manufacturing environment;
  • Proficiency in EdgeCam or similar, working knowledge PTC Creo Elements/Direct Drafting and Siemens NX 3-D CAD applications;
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position;
Preferred Qualifications
  • Manufacturing experience in metal cutting and CNC machining.
