The Billing Coordinator II will be responsible for: Preparing complex coding for billing for all Cardiology services utilizing resource books (CPT, ICD?9 etc.) as required. Retrieving daily Physician schedules; verifying that billing information has been obtained for all inpatient encounters. Working with other hospital staff to resolve any discrepancies in inpatient physician schedules; ensuring that no anesthesia services go unrecorded. Serving as resource person for department staff on questions regarding billing and claims issues. Providing positive and effective customer service that supports departmental and hospital operations. Contributing to the teamwork within and between departments and organizations. Providing charge review for ancillary outpatient billing services, utilizing resource books (CPT, ICD-10 etc.) as required. Evaluating billing system technology in order to collaborate with the cardio billing team to offer ways to improve systems and processes. Performing routine administrative duties such as opening and sorting mail, photocopying documents, distributing documents and collecting signatures. To qualify, you must have: A high school degree and up to one year of basic technical training in medical terminology. 2 years of previous experience in hospital operations. Knowledge in medical billing and payment procedures is preferred but not required. Bachelor's degree preferred. Proficient computer and data entry and retrieval skills required. The analytical skills to gather and interpret data in situations in which the information or problems are relatively routine. The ability to exchange information on factual matters, schedule appointments, greet visitors, explain hospital policies, and/or relay messages to appropriate personnel. This type of interaction requires courtesy and tact when dealing with patients, visitors and/or hospital employees. More sensitive situations may be referred to others as appropriate. The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and provide empathy in difficult interpersonal situations. The ability to work with diverse internal and external constituencies.
