Rank-Open Position in Philosophy | Smith College - Military Veterans

The Department of Philosophy at Smith College invites applications for a rank-open position, to begin July 1, 2024. Successful candidates should be prepared to engage actively with diverse students across the liberal arts. The successful candidate will have a specialization in philosophy of language, philosophy of mind, and/or aesthetics. Our department is committed to teaching in multiple philosophical traditions, spanning European and non-European philosophy. Therefore, we also seek candidates who have teaching competence in one or more of the following: Indian philosophy, Chinese philosophy, Africana philosophy, Native American and Indigenous philosophy broadly construed. Ph.D. in Philosophy is expected by the time of appointment. Candidates from groups underrepresented in Philosophy are encouraged to apply.

Located in Northampton, MA, Smith College is the largest womens college in the country and is dedicated to excellence in teaching and research across the liberal arts. A faculty of outstanding scholars interact with students in small classes, as advisors, and through student-faculty research projects.
