Job Summary Indiana University Auditorium has created a new Community Engagement Manager position that will be responsible for planning, designing, and implementing all key elements of the Auditorium's community engagement program. The Community Engagement Manager's responsibilities include and are not limited to: Department Specific Responsibilities Researches, plans, develops, designs, and implements all key elements of IU Auditorium's community engagement program. Manages the strategic planning for program growth and development. Works cooperatively with staff to establish long-term goals and objectives. Develops and maintains relationships with industry professionals, agents, and representatives who handle educational programming. Develops and maintains expertise in the array of performances, productions, and teaching artists available for educational programming. Establishes and builds relationships with University units, departments, and faculty, as well as K-12 administration, principals, and lead arts teachers. Develops and manages processes in which faculty engage and/or assist in the development of curricular engagement, thematic constructs, and interdisciplinary learning activities. Stays up-to-date and be conversant in relevant standards, needs, and pedagogical approaches within the collegiate and K-12 sectors. Oversees coordination of event needs (secure spaces, tech needs, staffing, copywriting, etc.). Coordinates promotions with Marketing Department. Coordinates with Marketing and Ticketing/Sales on group sales opportunities. Develops and oversees community engagement budget. Manages and expands upon the Auditorium's various engagement programs including: Give the Magic, Auditorium Kids on Campus, Grandorf Leadership Summit, Martha Novak and Marilyn Goerner Theater Experience Fund, IU Regional Campus Residency Programs. Arranges transportation and housing logistics as needed for artists and guests. Coordinates venue and art tours and education with Guest Services department and other arts units on campus. Supervises 1 part-time staff. General Responsibilities Creates, implements, and evaluates experiences that connect audiences with the university, including local and rural outreach, campus, summer camps, home school events, teacher professional development workshops, and family programming. Supports the activities of other university departments with expertise on the audience desired. Maintains affiliations with colleagues within academic university's locally and nationally. Develops and conducts training of a pool of educators who can facilitate programs. Develops and conducts training for tours with docents. Manages the daily operation of programs in accordance with the university's strategic plans. Develops and manages experience's budget(s). Oversees online content and technology. Seeks sources of funding and works with development staff to develop proposals and annual reports. Provides process improvement suggestions to supervisor. Qualifications Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education. EDUCATION Required Bachelor's degree (preferably in arts management, education, public relations, communications, business, marketing, or related field.) WORK EXPERIENCE Required 2 years in education, fine arts, or other related field Preferred 5 years experience in community engagement in performing arts SKILLS Required Proficient communication skills Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism and diplomacy Demonstrates time management, organizational, and priority setting skills Demonstrates a high commitment to quality Possesses flexibility to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment Seeks to acquire knowledge in area of specialty Highly thorough and dependable Demonstrates a high level of accuracy, even under pressure Preferred Demonstrates ability to maintain confidential information Demonstrates customer service skills Working Conditions / Demands This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as the ability to move about the workplace for long durations during engagement events. The transporting of artists and guests may be required for various events. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
