Receiver Engineer III - Kwajalein Atoll - 3054 - Military Veterans

This position is located on Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands.

Essential Functions

  • Provide operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting support for L-band and S-band receiver systems, which is a combination of both comerical and custom components, to include providing directions to technicians assisting in accomplishing these tasks.
  • Participate (and potentially lead) improvement and modernization efforts to include all phases of development from design through system acceptance.
  • Analyze radar systems for performance metrics and provide status reports and recommendations to the Sensor Manager regarding the receiver systems.
  • Update and maintain system documentation to include manuals, preventative maintenance schedules, and drawings.
  • Establish and maintain a safety conscious work environment in cooperation with the Safety department.
  • Collaborate with other groups to include complimentary engineering disciplines to ensure sensor availability is maximized.
  • Lead procurement and sparing efforts to include initial component research, vendor selection, and all subsequent actions to ensure necessary components and materials are on hand to support continuous operations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Required Skills

  • General knowledge of Analog/ Radio Frequency (RF) components such as amplifiers, couplers, hybrids, feed structure, filter receivers, exciters, transponders, RF switches, isolators, attenuators, waveguides, etc.
  • Familiarity with high power components, receiver systems, analog and digital control hardware, and RFI shielding practices.
  • General knowledge of signal modulation, digital pulses, spread spectrum, signal detection, interference analysis, baseband filtering, etc.
  • Strong understanding of electrical principles, preferably including the fundamentals of receiver architecture.
  • Strong circuit troubleshooting skills and the ability to read and interpret schematics.
  • Familiarity with and demonstrated ability to operate standard electronic test equipment, preferably to include high power RF measurement techniques.
  • Full understanding of the unique safety issues associated with working at high power RF that are common in this work environment.
  • General knowledge of analog-to-digital conversion of RF signals.
  • Ability to work independently with limited guidance.
  • Ability to assist in development of junior engineers and technicians.
  • Ability to lead various disciplines in the completion of projects that may sometimes be technically complex.
  • General software literacy in the Microsoft Office Suite.


Required Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science, a STEM field equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience including:
  • Field installation, calibration, troubleshooting, and/or acceptance testing of radar or similar systems, preferably to include high power RF
  • Mission operations and test range systems experience, desired.
  • Thorough understanding of the radar range equation and frequency correlation, understanding of receiver gain, noise figure, and their measurement methods, desired.

  • Ability to climb and work at heights.
  • The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements.
  • This position is accompanied.
  • Must be able to relocate to the United States Army Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. passport
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance, which includes U.S. Citizenship or U.S. naturalization
