DESCRIPTION
Michael Baker International is seeking a Transportation Assistant to join the team based in our Harrisburg, PA office. This is a field position that will work primarily at a construction site in either PennDOT Districts 2, 3, 4 or 8. As part of our Construction Inspection team, the successful candidate will be responsible to inspect contractor field activities and document the activities performed for the construction of highway and bridge projects. Duties include enforcing contract requirements and documentation of activities in a timely fashion. They will gain field knowledge and experience to enable them to advance to a Transportation Construction Inspector position.
- Position will mainly be spent working in the field on a construction site
- Monitor contractor activities and document performance on a Project Site Activity (PSA) report
- Use a tablet computer to enter documentation and for project references such as plans, specifications, and construction standards
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation
- Basic computer skills to use a tablet to document the daily activities
- Strong English language skills, written and verbal
- Ability to traverse construction sites and be outdoors in various climates
- Work hours vary from daylight to night work based upon contractor operations; overtime is often required
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications
- Possess basic math skills
The approximate compensation range for this position is $38,117-$49,538 in Harrisburg, PA. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
