Job Summary Under the direction of Custodial Services is responsible for coordinating and maintaining all recycling functions, programs, areas and routes including collection of recycling materials, recording on route sheets the amount of recyclable material collected, cleanliness and maintenance of all recycling bins. Communicates with Custodial Supervisors and Campus staff at each location where there is a recycling bin. Essential Job Duties Collects contents from recycling bins and transports the contents to a central collection station. Operates forklifts, lift gate/scout vehicles, trucks, baler, and hand trucks. Sorts recyclables, breaks and bales cardboard, and prepares recyclables for pick-up by Recycling vendors. Monitors and reports each week on the activity of the recycling program and reports any problems with collection efforts. Maintains and moves recycling collection bins as needed. Prepares monthly reports regarding the performance of various recycling sites activities and monitors program performance. Maintains effective two-way communication with Custodial Supervisors and campus staff participating in the recycling program. When requested, represents the Recycling Coordinator in making presentations concerning the Campus Recycling Program. Completes special projects as assigned. Assists with custodial operations during Recycling operations down-time, or as assigned. Basic Qualifications Must be a high school graduate with at least 1 year of related work experience. Prefer experience with waste management, or recycling operations in a campus environment. Must possess a valid driver's license and must be able to drive and operate a hydraulic truck. Must be able to drive and operate a forklift and have a current forklift operator's certification. Physical Requirements Must be in good health with no physical defects which would interfere with job performance. Must be able to lift 50 lbs and up to 100 lbs on a regular basis and work in all weather environments. Must be approved by examining physician for this position.
