The Earth and Environmental Sciences Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking an intellectually curious post-doctoral research associate for an opening in quantum computing.
The Earth and Environmental Sciences Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) employs about 220 scientists, postdocs, and students with expertise in various facets of Earth sciences. The successful candidate will join our group (EES-16) that works on strategic national and global problems related to energy and natural resources security, such as energy production, climate change resilience, carbon sequestration, and waste storage. This position will be aimed at research in applying quantum computing to fluid dynamics problems. Specific areas of interest include, but are not limited to, the development and use of novel algorithms for partial differential equations and linear systems either in a quantum or hybrid quantum/classical environment.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Ph.D. in a STEM field
- Demonstrated record of peer-reviewed publications and oral presentations
- Ability to work and communicate effectively in a diverse team environment
Education : Candidates must have received a Ph.D. within the last five years or will have completed all Ph.D. requirements by the commencement of the appointment.
Desired Qualifications:
- Knowledge about quantum computing
- Knowledge about fluid dynamics
- Knowledge about flow in porous and/or fractured media
- Computer programming skills in a high-level language such as Python, C

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 . Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.
