Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Clinician Educator) Division of Cardiology-CHLA | University of Southern California (USC) - Military Veterans

The Keck School of Medicine (KSOM) of the University of Southern California (USC) and Children??s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) in the Department of Pediatrics in the Division of Cardiology, are actively seeking a full-time faculty member for the position of General (Community-Based) Pediatric Cardiologist at the level of Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Clinician Educator). The successful candidate will launch and establish a general outpatient pediatric cardiology practice in Orange County, and also assist with acute care cardiology duties including echocardiography at the CHLA main campus location. Candidates should be clinically trained in general pediatric cardiology, with expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects. The preferred candidate should have a broad exposure to, and familiarity with the assessment of newborns, infants and children an inpatient setting, and also be familiar with general pediatric cardiology outpatient concerns, including post-operative follow up following surgical repair of congenital heart disease. Candidates should display excellent communication skills, technical ability and a willingness to participate in the increasingly utilized team-based-care approach in a community setting.  A strong working knowledge of non-invasive imaging, and the ability to perform echocardiography independently is also a requirement for this role. Ability to perform and interpret fetal echocardiography will be an advantage, but a dedicated prior fellowship in non-invasive imaging is not a requirement for this role. This position will include inpatient cardiology acute care duties at CHLA and any affiliate locations. This will include weekend and night on-call responsibilities to be shared on a rotating basis. On site and remote echocardiography interpretation duties serving the CHLA campus will also be a requirement. Development of teaching modules, and delivery of education to residents fellows and other multi-level learners is a requirement of the profile of this position. Children are referred to us for care from across the western United States and Pacific Rim countries. Applicants must have an M.D. or equivalent degree and have demonstrated scholarly, clinical, and teaching capabilities. Candidates must be board certified or board eligible in Pediatric Cardiology by the American Board of Pediatrics and be eligible for medical licensure in the State of California. The annual base salary range for this position is $95,904 -$325,712.
