Job Description:

Parsons Corporation is seeking highly motivated and creative Electrical Engineers to join our team in Aberdeen, MD & Fort Belvoir, VA locations.

We are looking for someone with a broad knowledge in electrical systems and components with even some background in research and development. If you answered yes… You will be designing, analyzing, and improving the efficiencies as well as the scalability of power electronics. You’ll work closely with scientists and engineers on team-based development projects in an R&D team environment which is the home of tight-knit and data-driven organization. You’ll even work on and support modernization or further innovation of current and legacy electronics and electrical systems. You will play a key role in our prototype development iteration cycle.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Performing research, development, and testing of tactical microgrid technologies to include generators, vehicle integrated power, charging stations, energy storage, power distribution, power conversion, communications, and controls

  • Working closely with R&D team and product development teams defining the product specifications, designing hardware/software, and verifying the design.

  • Performing compliance-requirement, design-trade-off, and failure-mode analysis to facilitate transition from R&D phase.

  • Building and maintaining technical competency in power electronics technologies.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with zero (0) to four (4) years of direct experience; senior individuals with more experience are encouraged to apply. Four (4) additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree. A Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering discipline may be substitute in lieu of qualifying experience.

  • Must have experience with lab instruments such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, electronic loads, and signal generators

  • Must possess excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and great communication skills.

  • Must be self-driven/motivated and able to work independently as well as a member of a dynamic and collaborative team.

  • Preferred university research experience in a combination of power electronics design, analysis, test, and troubleshooting during college courses or internships; more experienced candidates are also encouraged to apply

Preferred Qualifications:

  • University research experience in a combination of power electronics design, analysis, test, and troubleshooting during college courses or internships.

  • Deep knowledge in topology, modeling, and control of various types of power sources and power electronics.

  • Hands-on experience with designing, debugging, and testing of power systems, as well as with applications and/or design of its key components, such as semiconductor devices and magnetic components.

  • Familiarity with digital control theory and its implementation with embedded microcontrollers (MCU, DSP, FPGA).

  • Familiarity in using simulation and math software such as MATLAB/Simulink,

  • Experience in at least one programming language (Python, C, MATLAB, etc.)

  • Experience with electronic equipment and instrumentation, including instrument automation

  • Understanding of power architectures and converters for applications.

  • Experience with simulation tools.

  • Proficiency in electronics design (EDA) tools.

Clearance Qualifications:

  • This position does not require a clearance; but does require U.S. citizenship with the ability to successfully pass a background check, which may include drug testing.

Salary Range: 

$67,400.00 - $118,000.00
