Overview

  • Create and maintain machine programs and set-up sheets for CNC machines.
  • Perform research in hard copy and electronic drawings, as well as technical documents, to obtain information necessary to create programs.
  • Interact with machine operators as necessary to correct/edit programs.
  • Travel to other BIW facilities as necessary to interact with machine operators.
  • Travel to vendor facilities on occasion for training.

Responsibilities

  • Machine Shop Graduate Apprentice or Associate Degree in machinist trade with minimum 5 years experience in machining/programming required.

Qualifications

  • Experience in generating CNC programs through various software systems including but not limited to Mastercam and CATIA V5.
  • Experience in generating programs for Horizontal Boring Mills, Drills, Vertical Machining Centers, and Horizontal Lathes.
  • Experience in Vericut program software is preferred.
  • Experience in 5-Axis Machining is preferred.
  • Ability to react to changing tool tolerances and material changes.
  • Possess a high level of self-sufficiency to succeed in a limited supervision environment.
  • Ability to routinely climb three flights of stairs.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
