Overview of the Program
EnerSys is the global leader in stored energy solutions for industrial applications. We are growing and looking for individuals that share a common interest in the stored energy industry and want to work in this exciting environment. The purpose of this internship is to provide transitioning military service members with the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to begin full time employment as an Installation Technician. Interns will participate in a comprehensive 90-day training program onsite at a customer facility.
(Note: The objective of the program is to provide full time employment to all interns who meet training objectives and receive positive performance appraisals. However, an offer of full-time employment is not guaranteed.)
Training Specifics
On the Job Training: The training program is designed to provide interns with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to transition into full time employment with EnerSys. Interns will receive a combination of hands-on, on-site training. Interns who demonstrate satisfactory completion of training objectives and receive positive performance reviews can expect to be offered full-time employment at one of EnerSys’s facilities as a Services Installation Technician.
Training objectives include:
• Interns will be able to identify the various parts used during installation
• Interns will be able to run various sizes of copper cable
• Interns will be able to sew cable
• Interns will be able to interact with the customer contact
• Interns will be able to use hand tools including drills, saws, wrenches, crimpers
• Interns will be able to use a drill
• Interns will be able to mount various types of steel supports, ladder rack and telecom cabinets to floors and ceiling as appropriate
• Interns will be able to run ground cables and attach them to the racks and building ground bars properly
• Interns will be able to label and tag various types of equipment and cables using a P touch
• Interns will be able to clean up sites post installation and adhere to good housekeeping
• Interns will be able to take direction from the more Senior installation technician for advice and guidance. They will call out challenges and seek feedback to ensure project success.
• Interns will be able to take pictures for end of job updates
• Interns will be able to submit a Go Canvas report.
• Interns will be able to read and comprehend drawings and specs.
• Interns will be able to prepare Mops-Methods of Procedure
• Interns will be able to review the work assignments, project steps and SOW prior to the beginning of each workday
• Interns will be able to perform all work safely and ensure all safety measures are adhered to
• Interns will be able to complete all required Enersys and customer documentation
Professional Development: To enable all candidates to have long term, successful post-military careers, RecruitMilitary provides employment skill training and professional development coaching for all participating interns. This portion of the program includes participation in professional development seminars, close work with assigned mentors and practical applications to ensure all interns are armed with the requisite knowledge skills and abilities to develop and manage a successful civilian career after military service. Developmental topics include:
• Creating resumes targeted to specific opportunities in specific fields of employment.
• Leveraging social media to effectively network in the digital environment for career success.
• Development of a coherent personal brand to effectively market the intern to potential employers.
• Use of digital and online tools for targeted job searches and networking.
• Development of skills necessary to secure, prepare for and succeed at job interviews and subsequent salary negotiations.
Locations: Bangor, ME and Portland ME.
Training Period: The training program is based upon a 90-day training model. Service members with less than 90days available may be considered for participation provided they have a minimum of 90 days’ availability. Programs may be customized in length for high potential candidates.
Skills, Requirements, & Qualifications
Required:
· Must be a current Active-Duty Service member eligible for DOD SkillBridge opportunities in accordance with DODI 1323.29.
· Must be separating from the Military in 4-12 months
· Must be able to complete a 90-day internship
· Must be able to complete 40 hours per week with night work as a possibility
· Undergraduate degree in a related field
· One or more years of basic AC or DC electrical experience
· Willingness to learn from others on the job
Preferred:
Military experience in one or more of the following specialties:
· Army: 12B, 12R, 68C, 91C, 91D, 88M.
· Navy: ET, CE.
· Air Force/Space Force: 2E1X1, 2A6X4, 2A3X3, 3E0X2, 3E1X1, 2A7X2.
· Marine Corps: 2841, 0621, 1142, 1371, 3521, 1169, 0431.
Delivery of Training:
All training will be delivered under the direct supervision and guidance of a fully trained and qualified Lead installer, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience. Training will also be supported by Project Managers on the team, each with 3-5 years’ experience, supporting training in specific systems functional areas.
Work Environment:
This job is operated in a customer facility. When working at customer facilities, interns should be prepared to be exposed to adverse terrain, weather, and potential noise hazards. Training may occur at more than one physical location.
Performance Assessment Rubric
Employees will be evaluated based on their ability to demonstrate proficiency in all training tasks and in their role using a performance review at the end of their internship. Interns who have demonstrated the ability to perform all tasks, safely and in accordance with EnerSys standards of work and safety protocols and have earned all required badges can expect an offer of employment.
Attendance:
· Time Off must be requested in advance.
· Interns are not obligated to work more than 40 hours per week.
· Interns are required to attend all scheduled training, professional development, and mentorship sessions. Rescheduling may be requested but is not guaranteed.
· Interns with excessive or unexcused absences may be subject to termination at the discretion of the employer and/or RecruitMilitary Program Manager.
· The employer may terminate the intern at any time for failing to demonstrate progressive achievement of training objectives as well as violation of company policy to include but not limited to safety standards, personal conduct and drug free workplace.
· RecruitMilitary will provide recurring attendance reports to the parent command of all participating servicemembers.
· RecruitMilitary will advise the intern’s command that the intern is approaching their end date one week prior to the scheduled end date.
· RecruitMilitary will advise the intern’s command immediately if they have been terminated for cause.
VI. Benefit upon Full Time Hire:
· Salary Band: $56,600 to $80,000
· Benefit eligibility on Day 31 from date of hire include:
