BASIC PURPOSE: The Diesel Mechanic Support Coordinator is responsible for providing assistance in diagnosing roadside breakdowns or issues and recommending repair solutions. This position acts as a mechanic support hotline to our diesel mechanics across the country. Additionally, this role provides support to our dispatchers when needed. This position is in a fast-paced, high service environment where business is conducted with integrity and in a positive, respectful, and timely manner.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receive in-bound calls to troubleshoot mechanical problems to determine recommended repair solutions
  • Assist fleet customers regarding concerns with work currently or previously done to equipment
  • Work with 3rd part vendors to insure quality work is done in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with the dispatch team to determine if work can be completed by internal technician
  • Provide expertise to our Risk Management team on shop related claims
  • Provide the highest quality customer experience for all internal and external with courtesy and professionalism
  • Escalate issues as needed to the appropriate individuals or departments
  • Provide detailed documentation of resolutions in case records, emails, etc. in a proficient, accurate, and timely manner
  • Other duties assigned as needed

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Education:
    • HS Diploma or equivalent required
    • Post-secondary vocational education strongly preferred
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of diesel mechanic experience required

 

SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Skills:
    • Hard skills: Computer Skills, Microsoft Office, Typing
    • Soft Skills: Excellent written/verbal communication, customer focused, ability to learn quickly, team player, attention to detail, thorough follow-up, and ability to multitask         
  • Typical Physical Demands:
    • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping
    • Occasional lifting up to 20 pounds
    • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator
    • Requires normal range of hearing and vision
