Position Overview
Responsible for the marketing of products and services provided by the company in assigned territory and developing new markets while expanding current customer base. The Regional Sales Representative will also be responsible for managing sales budget within established sales goals, and executing sales strategies in the market area, utilizing the dedicated internal and external sales teams and customer support.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
The Regional Sales Representative reports to the VP/General Manager of the Asphalt & Construction Central Region and is responsible for developing and maintaining favorable relationships with current and potential customers, achieving sales goals of our asphalt business, developing short and long-term sales strategies and plans to increase the sales volume and profit margins.
• Establish annual sales projections, develop strategies, and set forth tactics that ensure the attainment of company sales goals and profitability in key markets through assigned geography.
• Achieve and/or exceed planned sales levels for all products and services within targeted markets and accounts.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge base of entire product line, product changes, selling strategies, competitive surveillance methods, expense control, etc.
• Analyze market potential, including competitive pricing, customer profiles, activities, market trends, demand forecasting, and other relevant facts and report key findings to the VP/GM as required.
• Manage the budget and forecast for the market area, managing selling expenses within the budget.
• Identify potential commercial and specialty projects and work alongside the VPGM to prepare bids on all appropriate projects within assigned marketing area. Participate in the development of bid strategy for each job.
• Increase sales volume for company’s products and services, while meeting profit margin goals and maintaining sales expense budget. Sell products to businesses, industrial establishments and individuals utilizing knowledge of the products sold.
• Compile a list of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from a variety of sources.
• Partner with other departments (Quality Control, Production, Operations, Accounting, etc.) to ensure every account receives the highest level of customer service.
• Communicate with the sales managers from other regions and business lines to manage and coordinate sales to customers who overlap geographic boundaries and markets, as well as to leverage the CRH portfolio across company boundaries.
• Conduct negotiations with suppliers and vendors as needed.
• Actively participate in industry and product related associations, training programs, conferences, seminars and educational forums to develop and maintain key networking and business relationships.
• Manage administrative duties to include full detailed information (reports, status updates, etc.) while meeting established deadlines and objectives.
• Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required.
• Manage a salesforce database of clients and projects
• Create purchase orders in salesforce to facilitate delivery of purchased materials
• Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education/Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or comparable discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
• Minimum of two years of experience in a Sales/Marketing position or equivalent position with a customer service focus.
• Minimum of two years of asphalt pavement construction and/or production experience is preferred.
• Salesforce experience preferred, not required.
• Demonstrate strong business acumen in regard to sales and marketing and/or the construction market; be knowledgeable of current and possible future industry trends.
• Demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with customers – both internal and external.
• Be a pro-active, self-motivated, self-starter who is action oriented and drives for results.
• Foster a collaborative, team-based approach.
• Highly ethical.
• Be proficient in basic Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
• Have strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to work with a diverse group of people within the Company and in a sales capacity.
• Must have the drive and self-discipline to work independently within territory to accomplish goals.
• Have a valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
Work Requirements
• Must be 18 years in age or older.

• Residency within assigned territory is a requirement.
