The Opportunity:

Overview of the Program

As a Diesel Technician you will provide safe and reliable vehicles and equipment to all customer segments while maintaining a technical focus for solutions to complex problems including but not limited to electrical, mechanical, fluid powering or hybrid applications. At times this position will assist in monitoring and assessing the performance of other technicians and groups to make improvements or take corrective actions. Employees in this job follow processes and procedures to achieve desired results while utilizing interdependence/collaboration with work group to ensure maximum potential.

Locations:  Over 150 locations in Texas, California, Oklahoma, North Dakota, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, Iowa, New York and Illinois!

Duration: 90-120 Days

Training Specifics

On-the-Job Training: The training program is designed to provide interns with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to transition into full-time employment with NextEra Energy as a Diesel Technician. Interns will receive a combination of on-the-job, field setting, classroom setting and computer-based training. Interns who demonstrate satisfactory completion of training objectives and receive positive performance reviews can expect to be offered full-time employment with one of NextEra Energy’s facilities as a Diesel Technician.  Training objectives include:

·       Participate in hands-on training and projects related to renewable energy generation and infrastructure.

·       Collaborate with experienced professionals in various departments, including operations, maintenance, and project management.

·       Gain practical experience in areas such as wind and solar energy production, grid integration, and environmental compliance.

·       Develop a deep understanding of the clean energy industry's challenges and opportunities.

·       Receive mentorship and guidance from industry experts to help shape your career path.

·       Prepare for a successful transition into a civilian career in clean energy.

Key Responsibilities

As a Diesel Technician you will be the critical front-line to ensure the safe and optimal performance of all wind farm operations. You will primarily focus on the safe execution of field-based equipment maintenance, diagnostics, as well as long-term reliability and profitability. Additional duties may include:

  • Implementing Operation Safety Policy Instructions, conducting field work in compliance with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) applicable regulations, encourage good employee safety practices, and drive an unparalleled employee safety culture
  • Participating in Business Lean Six Sigma processes and projects
  • Recruiting and developing other technicians for the ongoing development of the team
  • Supporting site manager for all phases of timely safety and environmental reporting, financial reporting, and turbine availability
  • Collaborating closely with internal NextEra users to develop and implement operation focused feedback and solutions for planned and unplanned maintenance, improvement projects, development, and financial performance
  • Presenting a positive professional representation of NextEra Energy in the community and with the customer

Skills, Requirements, & Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED (accredited) required.
  • Pending an Honorable discharge from active military service.
  • Eligible to participate in a DOD SkillBridge program.
  • Strong work ethic, discipline, and dedication to teamwork.
  • Interest in clean energy and a commitment to environmental sustainability.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Adaptability and a willingness to learn new skills.

Preferred:

  • 3 years’ relevant work experience with equipment repair and maintenance
  • Experience in the following MOS/MOCs:
  • US Army: 12B, 12C, 12P, 12R, 13D, 91B, 91C, 91S, 92A
  • US Air Force: 3E0X2, 3E0x1, 32E, 21R, 2A3X3, 2A3X3, 2A6X4
  • US Navy: EM, MM, ET, DC, CM, GT, IT, Seabees
  • US Marine Corps: 0621, 1345, 1371, 2841, 0402, 3066, 0401, 3531

Delivery of Training:

All training will be delivered on-site, in person and under the direct supervision and guidance of a fully trained and qualified Diesel Technician, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience. Training will also be supported by Diesel Technicians, each with 3-5 years’ experience, supporting training in specific systems functional areas.

Instructional Model:

Interns will receive a majority of their training in the manufacturing and field settings with job shadowing and on the job training (OJT). Time spent in the field may include work under adverse conditions. Additional classroom instruction and computer-based training may be used to supplement OJT.
