Position Specific Description

Seeking an Accounting Manager for FPL storm responsible for all matters related to storm accounting and leadership of the financial support storm roles during FPL weather events. This manager will be the finance/accounting leader at the FPL command center for pre-storm preparation and post-storm restoration including organization of finance/accounting storm resources during weather events, status reporting to the emergency response leadership team, and collaborating with operations to calculate and communicate total storm costs. This leader must ensure the operating business units are provided strong and timely consultative support as necessary to enable their achievement of storm goals while ensuring that the financial data is accurately captured and properly reflected in the financial statements and regulatory reports of the enterprise. In addition to supporting the executive team during weather events, the storm manager will also lead a direct team of 2 accountants in the on-going accounting and regulatory reporting activities required for storm activities.

This role requires excellent communication, strong project management skills, and the flexibility to work the extended hours during weather events at the FPL Command Center. This position reports to the Director of Regulated Property Accounting and results will be achieved by managing a direct team of 2 accountants and leading a large team of storm resources assembled during weather events . This role is eligible for straight time overtime pay during formal weather events.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepares financial reports that are in compliance with GAAP and FERC, in a timely manner, to accurately reflect the financial position of the Company
• Provides accounting oversight to businesses and departments within the Company and ensures proper controls are in place for accurate financial reporting
• Ensures financial data integrity through the implementation and maintenance of a strong control environment
• Keeps abreast of, and applies GAAP, SEC regulations, and relevant company policies, practices, and procedures
• Manages professional staff, and effectively communicates and executes performance management
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

•Bachelor's Degree
•Experience: 8+ years
•Supervisor/Management Experience: 2+ years

Preferred Qualifications

•Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
•Master's - Business Administration
