Digital Initiatives Program Manager and SUNY Library Services Support Specialist
Empire State University, Office of Library and Information Services (OLIS), seeks an innovative professional to lead and manage SUNY-wide transformative digital initiatives to support our libraries. The Digital Initiatives Program Manager and Support Specialist will develop and leverage digital technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) tools, to improve library services and the user experience. This position will be instrumental in developing and advancing our strategic vision and direction for the services OLIS provides to our SUNY libraries and the tools we need to help our libraries succeed.
Digital Initiatives Program Manager (50%)
- Collaborate with SLS and OLIS staff to envision strategic goals for emerging technologies and digital initiatives related to the SUNY Shared Library Platform, SDR and SOAR institutional repositories and internal operations.
- Develop and implement applications and programs using AI and digital tools to support innovative information services, scale existing ones.
- Conduct Technical maintenance of the SDR and SOAR institutional repository environments.
- Collaborate with technology providers and other libraries on projects and best practices.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies relevant to library services.
- Educate library users and staff on AI tools and digital resources and provide support and technical maintenance of the SDR and SOAR institutional repository environments guidance in the use of these technologies.
- Participate in Emerging Technologies / Digital Initiatives working groups.
- Build and enhance OLIS web presence.
- Scale new LSP technology initiatives, such as cloud apps, open library workflows, webhooks, APIs and external system integrations.
- Represent OLIS at various relevant SUNY-wide and professional conferences.
- Liaise with SUNY IT as needed.
SUNY Library Services Support Specialist (50%)
- Help configure and minimally maintain Institution Alma and Primo VE instances for assigned campuses.
- Facilitate communication with specific campuses who receive extended support from SUNY library services.
- Develop institutional capacity through training and technical support for Student Information Systems, repositories, reporting and related areas.
- Support SIS loads and troubleshooting.
- Develop documentation and provide training and workflow suggestions related to Alma/ Primo, SOAR and SDR.
- Participate in special projects and initiatives related to SUNY Library Services.
Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- A graduate degree in Library Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, or other related field from an accredited institution.
- Experience with library and archival tools (e.g. Alma, dSPACE, LibGuides, etc.).
- Prior experience managing technology projects using established best-practices.
- Experience providing systems and technology support.
- Demonstrated knowledge of best practices, issues, and trends in library information technology.
- Familiarity with IT project management best practices.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to troubleshoot integrations between different systems, such as our library services platform and digital repository.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly and knowledgeably, both verbally and in writing.
- Familiarity with programming languages, such as JavaScript, Ruby or Python.
Special Information:
- Occasional travel may be required to fulfill university-wide commitments.
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. VISA sponsorship is not available for this position.

Additional Information:
Rank/Salary: Staff Associate, SL4 / $70,000-$85,000, dependent upon experience and qualifications.
