Facility Coordinator Assistant (BLANK AST 3)
Job Summary
Under general supervision, coordinate and provide administrative support in the areas Facilities Maintenance at the California National Primate Research Program.
Support CNPRC and the facility manager by receiving maintenance request from staff and routing to the appropriate department. be the point of contact for established programs such as pest control, and sanitation and scheduling of annual inspections.
Coordinate campus and vendor support of maintenance and repair requests
Provide excellent customer service to CNPRC by serving as the primary contact for common maintenance requests, and providing status updates to requesting staff and impacted units. Triage and escalate complex requests to the Facility Manager. In addition, the incumbent will serve as the customer service contact for Campus Facilities. Assist Center personnel (and internal/external customers) in providing timely customer service and feedback on safety issues and facilities maintenance matters. Assist in visual inspections, animal room checks, and environmental control monitoring. The incumbent must be able to troubleshoot, problem solve, and address inquiries pertaining to a wide range of internal customer service support activities, including submitting facilities repair work orders, coordination of renovation projects, and service technicians. Assist faculty, staff and visitors with the established injury response and reporting process.
As directed by the Facilities Manager, ensure that the CNPRC maintains a continuous audit-ready state of compliance with Code of Federal Regulations, California State, UC/NIH/USDA, EHS/Facilities policies, procedures, practices, and applicable regulatory requirements. The CNPRC is a heavily regulated environment, which is essential for the Center to maintain compliance with Federal and State agencies and animal research safety industry standards.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- High school diploma or equivalent experience.
- Experience in full-service customer service support is necessary to effectively and professionally respond to requests in the areas of maintenance and repair.
- Experience in time management and organizational coordination necessary to manage multiple projects, appropriately prioritize workload, plan for resources to meet deadlines and goals, and respond to day-to-day functional needs.
- Experience in facilities maintenance and repair.
- Communication (oral, written, presentation, documentation) and interpersonal skills, to interact with customers, convey technical information in lay terms, advise on regulations and laws, conduct in- service training and educational programs, and develop detailed compliance reports and correspondence.
- Proficiency in computer software; solid Microsoft Office 365 experience, Excel, Outlook/Mail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with equipment, office, laboratory or vivarium inspections.
- Experience with workplace safety practices (i.e., PPEs and safety equipment usage).
- Knowledge of AALAS/USDA practices and protocols pertaining to non-human primate animal facilities.
- Knowledge of physical plant systems and equipment.
- Familiarity with California and applicable building codes and regulations. Knowledge of building systems. Skills to monitor and manage renovations.

Work Environment

Required to wear protective clothing and respirator in circumstances that require personal protection from infectious diseases and animals. Wear protective clothing for extended periods of time including: gown, coveralls, gloves, masks, face shields, goggles, sleeves and head covers. Work outdoors daily throughout the year, including rain, warmer temperatures, or cold weather that is consistent with Northern California climate. Walk on uneven ground. Restricted vacation during peak workload periods. Work irregular shifts, including weekends, holidays, and evenings. Work overtime, occasional weekends on short notice. California National Primate Research Center employees are directly or indirectly engaged in the performance of work on Federal or State contracts and grants as well as periodically come into contact with controlled substances; and are expected to abide by the UC Policy on Substance Abuse, the Federal Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988, and the State Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1990.
