OR/SPD Materials Technician (6a-2:30p) - Military Veterans

This Materials Technician will be responsible for:
Shift 6a-2:30p with rotating weekends and holidays
- Monitoring and maintaining inventory of surgical supplies for the OR, PACU and Day Surgery, ensuring availability for scheduled cases. Monitoring supply usage and initiating reorders according to par levels, reviewing and recommending par levels adjustments as needed. Monitoring, receiving, inspecting, and verifying orders, following up with supervisor or Business Manager as needed to resolve errors or delays of materials
- Distributing, restocking and maintaining inventory in designated storage areas and case carts. Monitoring storage of supplies/equipment, rotating stock and inspecting items for proper packaging and expiration dates. Maintaining neatness and organization of storage areas
- Recording items received into the department by computer or manual methods. Monitoring, inspecting and verifying orders received and keeping management informed of any errors, delays or other related problems
- Assembling soft good materials and surgical instrumentation onto surgical case carts using computerized surgeon preference sheets for scheduled elective procedures. Inspecting packaging integrity of all medical materials/soft goods/consumables and surgical instrumentation. Building and constructing surgical case carts, delivering to surgical areas, and deconstructing unused items and instrumentation for return to stock
- Responsible for urgent and emergent surgical case cart build and delivery based on established emergency protocols
- Serving as SPD/OR liaison for the efficient flow of surgical case cart delivery, instrument, and medical supply replenishment in the surgical areas. Responsible for emergent delivery of instrumentation and medical supplies during surgical cases. Communicating between Operating Room clinicians and SPD of urgent and upcoming needs
- Following departmental policies/procedures, transporting carts of instrumentation or medical materials to and from designated areas within the surgical suites or SPD
- Restocking OR surgical core with surgical instrumentation sterilized in SPD following departmental policies/procedures and instructions utilizing electronic instrument tracking system
- Responding to requests for materials information, referring more complex inquiries to manager or other authorized personnel
To qualify, you must have:
- High school diploma/GED required
- Strong customer service and strong communication skills
- Strong computer and problem solving skills as well as the ability to work independently and as a team player
- The ability to be flexible; willing and able to change assignments due to needs of the department
- Demonstrated basic record keeping skill, as well as the ability to read and write legibly
