Location: Chicago, IL Job Description: Plan, execute and facilitate advanced technical/scientific research projects. Designs, develops and tests experimental protocols for research (including empirical protocols, computational, statistical methods, etc.). Collaborates with other researchers as appropriate. Participates in the preparation and writing of grant applications and reports, and co-authors scientific research manuscripts. May present work at scientific meetings and provide peer review of grant applications and scientific manuscripts. The individual in this role will be involved in all aspects of the design, development, implementation, and analysis of research projects focused on population variation in immune responses. Focus on the development and optimization of a highly novel, non-viral gene delivery approach to facilitate cardiac gene delivery in the atria and ventricles. Identify new molecular targets for gene-based treatment of atrial fibrillation. Collaborates with other researchers as appropriate. Assisting the Principal Investigator (PI) in designing new experiments. Harvesting, analyzing, and interpreting data; drafting manuscripts. Presenting data at research conferences. Participates in the preparation and writing of grant applications and reports, and co-authors scientific research manuscripts. Serves as a resource for collecting data and performing analysis. Facilitates and promotes a research project by providing scientific or intellectual information. Develops laboratory protocols and training on new techniques. Manage, analyze and make recommendations on complex data sets for research. Performs other related work as needed. Preferred Qualifications Education: Doctoral degree in a field relevant to the research being conducted. Experience: Knowledge of intact heart electrophysiology. Understand the molecular mechanisms underlying atrial fibrillation. Previous bench lab experience. Preferred Competencies Data interpretation. Analytical skills. Problem-solving skills.
