Postdoctoral Research Fellow Position: Human-Centered Responsible AI Location: University of Notre Dame Open Date: Dec 07, 2024 Deadline: Description: The Human-Centered Responsible AI (HRAI) Lab at the Lucy Family Institute for Data and Society (LFIDS) seeks highly motivated and enthusiastic candidates for a Postdoctoral Fellow in the area of human-centered AI, responsible AI, and human-AI interaction. The candidate will work closely with Dr. Toby Li ( https://toby.li/ ), the Director of HRAI Lab, as well as faculty affiliates of the HRAI Lab on designing, developing, deploying, and studying interactive artificial intelligence (AI) systems to enhance human-AI collaboration, augment human intelligence, and democratize access to AI empowerment technologies in a responsible way. The postdoc will be a residential scholar within the Lucy Family Institute office space as well as an active participant within the Lucy Postdoctoral Scholar Community to enable greater collaboration between the Institute faculty and other postdoctoral scholars who are recruited through this initiative. Qualifications: Open to applicants from any relevant discipline, including sub-disciplines of computing (e.g., human-computer interaction, machine learning, natural language processing, information systems) as well as those from a relevant application domain (e.g., education, health, policy, natural and social sciences) with a strong background in designing and building responsible AI systems to address problems in the respective fields. The appointee was recently (typically five years or fewer) awarded a Ph.D. or the equivalent terminal degree in the field of consideration; Excellent research skills demonstrated by a track record of publications in high-ranking journals, conferences, and/or with leading presses or a demonstrable capacity to develop such a record; Strong interest and background in conducting AI research that crosses disciplinary boundaries, engages stakeholders, and makes positive societal impacts. Strong oral and written communication skills and ideally some experience with working with partners within and outside academia; Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are required.
