Job Description Financial Analyst Exciting Opportunity at MSK We are seeking a Financial Analyst to join the Research Financial Planning team. In this role, you will support financial management and reporting, including preparation and monitoring of budgets, analyzing, and reporting financial information, and financial decision support for initiatives, policies, and procedures. In addition, you will Identify, summarize, and report on financial trends. Role Overview: Assists with the development of some or all of the following: operating, capital, restricted fund, and projects budgets. Develops budget justifications for incremental or zero-based budget requests. Prepares monthly expense and variance reports, investigate, and explain unusual variances, recommending steps to resolve these variances and assist in implementing them. Evaluates, interprets, and analyzes data and/or business processes. Identifies problems, trends and issues requiring action or review. Applies knowledge of database queries, spreadsheet formulas, and statistical software to develop and prepare various reports. Independently coordinates small to medium sized projects as well as identifying needed resources while developing timelines. Collaborates with senior management on variances, financial planning, and forecasting. Key Qualifications: 4-7 years of financial/budget/accounting experience Computer proficiency in Microsoft Excel Analytical skills required include the ability to analyze and draw conclusions from financial and statistical data. Requires the ability handle sophisticated work assignments and provide mentorship to less experienced staff. Experience with research funding in an academic medical center preferred. Core Skills: Ability to communicate with Management and make independent decisions. Good understanding of modern financial operations and practices. Strong verbal/written communication skills including participating in meetings and giving presentations. Additional Information: Location: Fully Remote Reporting to the Team Lead Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9am - 5pm Pay Range: $73,900 - $114,400.
