About Toyotsu Lithium Corporation:
Toyotsu Lithium (“TLC”) is a Joint Venture between Arcadium and TTC and is the operator of the Naraha downstream production facility that refines lithium carbonate to lithium hydroxide with a production capacity of 10,000 metric tons of lithium hydroxide.
The Naraha downstream facility achieved first production of lithium hydroxide in October 2022 and placed under care and maintenance in March 2024. The hydroxide facility is anticipated to re-commence production during the second half of 2025.

Position Summary: The Plant Manager will lead Arcadium Lithium’s Joint Venture Production facility with TTC based in Naraha, Japan. Primary focus of the position will be to foster a culture of safety, transparency, quality, disciplined problem solving, high performance work teams, and continuous improvement. She / he will ensure the appropriate teams, tools, and processes are in place to support these desired cultural traits. She/he must also inspire the staff to achieve results in alignment with business strategy as well as operational objectives focused on safety, health and environment, quality, productivity, resource/asset utilization, inventory, people development, and employee engagement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Safety, Health and Environmental
- Champions the essential belief that all jobs can be performed safely and that no job is worth doing that would risk the health, safety, or welfare of the plant employees or community.
- Ensures development and implementation of the annual Safety Plan and enthusiastic support for site safety and employee engagement.
- Ensure strict adherence to site safety policies and procedures, and life critical safety standards such as: permit to work, lock out tag out, line break and equipment opening, confined space entry, work at elevation, electrical work, and hot work.
- Ensures the Site’s environmental equipment and operating practices result in minimal environmental impacts and are in compliance with all Company and country regulations.
- Ensures that compliance with the Arcadium’s Process Safety Standard is maintained across the site and that there is continuous improvement in safety and environmental performance.
- Drives reduction in injury rate through employee engagement, condition improvements and safety systems.
- Ensures rigorous management of change for processes and procedures at the site. Accountable as the final approver for many site changes.
- Drives a quality-first mindset to the plant floor ensuring that programs are in place to support our customers continually evolving need for high-quality lithium products.
- Ensures supply plans are met and works closely with supply chain to deliver high-quality product to our customers as requested. Develops plans to address any production shortfalls by working cross functionally.
- Coordinates with supply chain to control inventory levels and is accountable for inventory record accuracy
- Ensures that cost-management systems are properly used to maintain highly efficient and cost-competitive position.
- Ensures each department meets their annual budget, manufacturing variances and forecast goals.
- Supports development of a multi-year capital plan required to run and maintain performance at the site.
- Ensures the levels of capital and maintenance funds are appropriate so that the plant fulfills its production requirements while remaining competitive in cost, capital, etc.
- Develops and monitors key performance metrics to ensure that spending commitments are met, and that capital investments deliver business value.
- Drivesthe achievement of Annual Performance Indicators (API’s) as set by Arcadium Leadership.
- Ensures compliance with business required programs such as ISO, IATF16949, responsible minerals initiative (RMI), etc.

- Leads the building of strong and effective teams within manufacturing.
- Provides the appropriate support and direction that assures effective use of resources.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’sdegree in Chemical Engineering with ten (10) or more years of progressive management in a chemical manufacturing environment. MBA a plus.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in managing change as well as the ability to analyze and improve business processes.
- General working knowledge of plant engineering, quality assurance practices, and environmental management.
- Prior experience with multi-national chemical manufacturing financial systems: AFE’s, Budgets, Capital Planning and Costing.
- Strong Safety leadership, knowledge in international safety regulations, familiar with process safety management systems, including MOC system, technical aspects of process safety – P&IDs, interlocks (SIS), emergency relief systems, fire/explosion suppression systems, quantified risk assessment.
- Basic knowledge of transportation, purchasing, accounting and business administration.
- Demonstrable skills and experience in establishing, managing and maintaining strong internal and external relationships including cross functional groups; Joint Venture partners; local, provincial and national community or government bodies, vendors; auditors & regulatory agencies.
- Fluency in English & Japanese required.
