Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related specialized area or the equivalent experience is required plus a minimum of 18 years of demonstrated leadership; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 16 years of demonstrated leadership.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire, with the ability to upgrade to Top Secret. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Sr Director Manufacturing Operations East. The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nations fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

  • Works with operations VP to establish strategic plans and objectives
  • Reviews budgets, schedules and performance standards
  • Responsibility to lead other operations directors, managers or department managers related to business area, project or strategic activity
  • Typically leads multiple departments or a highly complex large project that is high value or several medium projects concurrently
  • Participates in program and project reviews as senior level representative
  • Manages all subordinate department activities to develop and implement long range goals and objectives to meet business and profitability growth objectives
  • Leads team members and/or senior department staff to develop measurements to monitor performance to established processes, procedures and business goals
  • Reviews subordinates plans, risks and opportunities with executable strategies to meet technical, financial and budgetary requirements
  • Reviews selection criteria for hiring senior members of operations staff and manages hiring process
  • Reviews and approves complex proposals within business area
  • Reviews and approves the development of strategies for pricing, program planning, risk management, negotiations and margin generation for programs at the proposal stage
  • Reviews and approves the technology road maps for programs and works to influence DFX opportunities as early as possible
  • Reviews the overall execution of process changes to improve overall efficiency of manufacturing and the effects on current and future work (cost, cycle time, quality)
  • Provides input to divisional strategic plans
  • Sets expectations for employee development and performance management of employees
  • Regular communications with senior management
  • Regular customer interface

  • Must be able to make controversial decisions and communicate the outcome
  • Remarkable ability to implement complex changes and monitor effectiveness of changes related to cost and schedule of large teams or complex projects
  • Remarkable experience leading proposals and large teams
  • Remarkable ability to handle changing conditions with limited information and challenging requirements
  • Ability to identify, prioritize and manage critical issues
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Remarkable business operations experience
  • Remarkable ability to provide clear, authoritative and complaint guidance during review and analysis of financial charges to programs and overhead
  • Presents project progress/results to senior and executive management
  • Ability to influence senior division management regarding business decisions
  • Excellent performance management skills

Salary Note

This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.

Combined Salary Range

USD $250,936.00 - USD $271,521.00 /Yr.
