Recruitment Range: $41,014 - $45,751 Vacancy Number: S02563 Competency Level: Journey Home Department: Student Accounts/Cashiers - 35101 Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit: The Student Financial Services Cashier is responsible for processing, verifying, and reconciling various financial transactions and institutional deposits. This role involves interacting with students, staff, vendors, and the public, requiring strong customer service skills and the ability to handle difficult situations with tact. The position also includes preparing reports, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with university and state policies. Key Responsibilities: Process and reconcile student, staff, departmental, and merchant transactions. Handle daily university credit card account reconciliations and general ledger postings. Provide customer service to students, parents, faculty, and staff, addressing inquiries and resolving issues. Prepare and maintain financial reports and records for audit purposes. Ensure compliance with university billing, refund policies, and federal regulations. Develop summary reports and spreadsheets with corresponding data to be used when certifying the funds with the Office of State Controllers and wires/transfers with the Office of State Treasurer. Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in accounting work; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Preferred education, professional skills and experience: At least 3 years of specialized accounting office experience in handling cash and cash equivalent items. Three years of banking and/or cash-handling experience. Two years of customer service experience. Strong data entry and calculator accuracy skills. Ability to multi-task in a high volume/fast-paced environment. Ability to research and resolve student account inquiries in a timely manner. Capacity to maintain voluminous records and high-quality organization skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Calculator speed and accuracy are needed. Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word. General understanding of accounting and banking relationships. Knowledge of NCFS and state banking methods to certify funds to the state. Knowledge of general University operations, policies, and procedures must be understood and practiced. Knowledge of Banner, TouchNet, and ImageNow.
