About the role:
The Tax Supervisor is responsible for performing detailed reviews and assisting in the management of the day-to-day operations of the US federal, state, and local income tax compliance and works closely with the Tax Accounting group on the ASC 740 quarterly processes. This team member works with numerous people in various internal departments, outside consultants, GM Tax and tax authorities. This team member is responsible for the daily mentoring of staff and management of the Federal and State Income Tax Group
Responsibilities
In this role you will:
- Detail review and assist management in overseeing all aspects of income tax compliance: federal and state income/franchise tax returns, estimated payments, and extensions
- Preparation and review of US tax provision and other data in accordance with ASC 740 to be Coordinated with the Tax Accounting Group
- Supervise, mentor and develop assigned personnel; allocate work and make decisions regarding employment, training and development, and performance appraisals
- Manage outside consultants
- Research, document and assist in the implementation of new and/or revised federal law, FASB standards, and SEC regulations as applicable to the Company's tax position
- Identify and lead the implementation of tax initiatives/projects including, but not limited to, automation, tax planning, and risk mitigation
- Assist and coordinate federal and combined state audit IDRs requiring data or support for GM Financial's tax positions with GM's Tax Department
- Manage all of GM Financial's seperate state income tax audits
Qualifications

- Good knowledge of GAAP for income taxes
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Access
- Advanced knowledge of US federal and state taxation
- Proficient with computer technology
- Sarbanes-Oxley compliance
- Ability to document and identify tax issues in complex transactions and processes
- Ability to learn and use new technology
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Able to work under pressure
- Advanced analytical and mathematical skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Must stay abreast of technical tax issues while seeking ways to enhance the tax process
- Strong research skills and experience with research software
- Supervision/Management skills
Experience
- 5-7 years of public and industry experience in a high paced environment required
Licenses
- CPA preferred

OUR BUSINESS & OUR HISTORY
GM Financial was founded as AmeriCredit in September 1992 and opened its first branch office in Fort Worth, Texas. On October 1, 2010, AmeriCredit Corp. was acquired by General Motors Company and renamed General Motors Financial Company, Inc. (GM Financial). In 2011, GM Financial acquired FinanciaLinx to serve GM dealers and customers throughout Canada. In November 2012, GM Financial announced the acquisition of Ally Financial Inc.’s international operations. The majority of those acquisitions were finalized in 2013, with the remaining market, a 35 percent equity interest in a joint venture in China, acquired in January 2015. In October 2017, GM Financial completed the sale of its European financial subsidiaries and branches as part of General Motors’ sale of the Opel and Vauxhall businesses to Peugeot S.A.
GM Financial provides auto finance solutions to 14,000 dealers worldwide, with earning assets of $93 billion at September 30, 2018.
