Job Description:

Network Operations Specialist II - Secret Clearance Required

GDIT is seeking qualified candidates for Mission Training Complex Capabilities Support II (MTCCS II) program. GDIT delivers individual sustainment through collective Mission Command training, Leadership Training / Development, Warfighter Functions (WFF) training, First Person Simulations (Gaming), and constructive simulations supported training from Squad through Echelon Above Brigade (EAB). Technical integration between simulation and C4I systems. Establish /maintain training and exercise networks. Accomplish Risk Management Framework Certification and Accreditation security and risk management activities.

HOW A NETWORK OPERATIONS SPECIALIST II WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Implements security tools such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, antivirus, and encryption.
  • Operate and maintain Cisco network equipment to include routers, layer 2/3 switches, Cisco Unified Call Manager (CUCM) and VOIPs; knowledge of Windows server and clients is preferred.
  • Exercise network protocols, architectures, and security measures like VPN and IDS/IPS.
  • Ensures the cybersecurity Risk Management process and appropriate operational security posture is maintained and documented for the MTC Type Training Enclaves and MTC Training Exercise Network.
  • In depth knowledge of networking concepts and protocols, and network security methodologies.
  • Follows DoD Directives and Instructions 8140, 8570-01-M, Army regulations AR 25-2, NIST Special Publications 800-53, 800-39, as well as following guidance from other cyber agencies in NETCOM, and CYBERCOM.
  • Conducts scheduled SCANs of the training enclaves and systems.
  • Assist with creating RMF products such as plans of action and milestones (POA&M) and STIG checklist and performs continuous monitoring of applied STIGs and patches.
  • Assist in validation of applied STIGs and patches performed by the SAs and NAs. Updates and documents STIGs in response to vulnerabilities identified during risk assessments, audits, & inspections.
  • Conducts periodic auditing and compliance checks to assess vulnerabilities of the network and systems.
  • Produces artifacts and trackers, as well as other documents to meet the Security Control Assessment - Validation (SCA-V) requirement to maintain the MTC Type ATO.
  • Assures successful implementation and functionality of security requirements and appropriate IT policies and procedures that are consistent with the organization's mission and goals.
  • Conducts regular audits to ensure that systems are being operated securely, and information systems security policies and procedures are being implemented as defined in security plans.
  • Safeguards the network against unauthorized infiltration, modification, destruction, or disclosure.
  • May serve as a task or team lead, not a people manager.
  • Performs other duties as required.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
  • Education: BA/BS (in computer science, information systems, engineering, or related field with concentration in computer-based technology); or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training.
  • Required Experience: 5+ years of related experience; Military experience preferred.
  • Required Technical Skills: Configure and maintain Cisco network equipment to include routers, layer 2/3 switches, Cisco Unified Call Manager (CUCM) and VOIPs; knowledge of Windows server and clients is preferred; knowledge of the SCA-V process and inspection program; Expert understanding of NIST, DoD, & Army Cybersecurity & Risk Management Framework policies, directives, instructions, manuals, and best business practices
  • Certification: DoD 8570.01 IAT II certification.
  • Security Clearance Level: Secret
  • Required Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge of the following: current industry methods for evaluating, implementing, and disseminating IT security assessment, monitoring, detection and remediation tools and procedures utilizing standards-based concepts and capabilities; disaster recovery continuity of operations plans; enterprise incident response program, roles, and responsibilities; network security architecture concepts including topology, protocols, components, and principles; server administration and systems engineering theories, concepts, and methods. Experience with: Solarwinds or similar discovery and analysis tools; Network and Cybersecurity Architecture planning and maintenance support; Cybersecurity documentation and auditing tools.
  • Location: Fort Campbell MTC. Normal work schedule 0800-1630 M-F may require night, swing or weekend work shifts depending on specific training event requirements.
  • Travel: May require occasional travel (less than 10%).

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $28.90 - $39.10. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
