HybridWe are looking for a Software and Systems Manager to support the E-7A program for the Electric Power Systems Distribution product design team. This manager would be responsible for a team, including hybrid and remote team members, engaging in full life-cycle development (plan, design, implement, and verify) of secondary power distribution products.
The Software and Systems Manager is expected to coordinate the activities of assigned software and systems engineers on E-7A, and work with the Program Manager, Chief Engineer, SIPT, other internal functions, and external customer daily to ensure program execution and customer commitments are being met. This position requires excellent communication, organization and delegation capabilities.
What You Will Do
Act as the management focal point within Distribution for E-7A software and systems support, providing first-line management of resources and skill sets for the program.
Interface directly with the technical engineering team supporting E-7A Distribution software and systems to manage and execute the full life-cycle development (planning, requirements, design, verification, certification/qualification) of distribution systems and software.
Be accountable for the team’s project engineers’ estimations/budgeting, schedule development, work order/charge number creation, and periodic program reviews.
Interface with PMO, including SIPTS and chief engineers, to review and coordinate customer and supplier support for the program.
Attend and support customer meetings and teleconferences.
Collaborate with sourcing and project management teams to align on outsourcing needs, including allocated budget, timelines, and required skills, and to create or update the applicable Statement of Work (SOW) for the program.
Prepare, monitor, and potentially be responsible for the program’s budget, staffing, outsourcing PO management, and/or business/operational results.
Oversee outsourcing purchase orders, including timely review and approval of respective invoices for the program.
Provide direction, coaching, and guidance on company policies and internal processes to employees as required.
Actively engage with employees through one-on-ones to support their goals, performance, and development.
Mentor and coach junior staff within the department, preparing them for current and upcoming business roles.
Lead teams, develop talent, and build competency, which may include managing remote or offshore team members in a highly detail-oriented environment.
Complete the summarization and distribution of performance reviews for assigned engineers.
Contribute directly to department strategy, considering both immediate and long-term goals.
Collaborate proactively with fellow management in Distribution to support long-range planning activities, including forecasting resource demands and assessing skill gaps to meet key business goals and customer deliverables.
Develop strong cross-functional relationships with other leadership teams to establish a well-integrated approach to development programs.
Work with associated leads, Discipline Chiefs, and program leadership to ensure best practices and design strategies are integrated into program plans.
Engage with cross-functional peers to help remove bottlenecks and facilitate smoother, more consistent execution of internal development processes.
Work effectively in a cross-functional environment with allied engineering groups and customer staff.
Maintain a passion for technology, people development, and systems/software engineering.
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience

Qualifications We Prefer
Over 10 years of experience managing and executing the full life-cycle development of complex software and systems, ideally within the aerospace or defense industry.
Experienced leading and mentoring cross-functional teams, including remote and offshore members, while fostering talent development and ensuring project success in a highly detail-oriented environment.
Experienced in budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation, along with the ability to manage outsourcing needs, create Statements of Work (SOW), and handle purchase order management for large-scale programs.
Experienced collaborating with various teams, including engineering, sourcing, and customer-facing staff, to align on program goals, remove operational bottlenecks, and support long-range planning efforts.

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
