Assistant/Associate Professor and MSW Practicum Director in Clinical MSW Program - Military Veterans

Job Description

  • A minimum of 50% of this position will be dedicated to serving as the Practicum Director in the trauma-informed clinical MSW program.
  • Teach in an innovative, online MSW program with substantive focus on trauma-informed clinical practice and collaboration with practice communities.The incumbent would be expected to teach courses, totaling 12 graduate credits that would include, but are not limited to practicum education, MSW foundation, and/or MSW clinical courses.
  • Provide leadership in the ongoing implementation of the MSW practicum education program
  • Assist the MSW practicum coordinator to cultivate new practicum sites and facilitate practicum placements for foundation and advanced standing students.
  • Pursuant to University and Department policy, consult, mediate, and facilitate the resolution of practicum education student concerns.
  • Maintain Licensed Independent or Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LISW/LICSW) status in the State of Minnesota.
  • Instruct courses in varied locations, at varied times, and via various media commensurate with department and university needs.
  • Engage in scholarly research or creative achievement to enhance and advance knowledge of profession
  • Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study in the discipline to enhance teaching abilities.
  • Contribute to student growth and development including student advising, responding to inquiries regarding practicum, participating in student orientations and professional development labs, and supervising student professional development e-portfolios.
  • Provide service to the university and community including the program, the college, the university, and the greater community. Support Winona State University's mission to enhance the intellectual, social, cultural, and economic vitality of the people and communities we serve.
  • Lead Council of Social Work Education reaffirmation efforts related to practicum education.
  • Collect and report practicum education assessment data in accordance with CSWE accreditation standards
  • Ensure practicum policies, procedures, curriculum, practicum education handbook, and annual reporting are in alliance with CSWE EPAS requirements.
  • Coordinate and facilitate a practicum advisory board twice each academic year
  • Facilitate monthly drop-in meetings for MSW practicum supervisors and community partners.
  • Support MSW faculty practicum liaisons to ensure the effective and equitable implementation of practicum-related policies and course delivery.
  • Practice community engagement through collaboration with other professionals and a commitment to meeting the needs of underrepresented and marginalized populations.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Earned doctorate in social work or related discipline by August 2027.
  • Earned MSW degree from a CSWE accredited program.
  • Minimum of two-years post-MSW degree clinical practice experience.
  • Licensed Independent or Licensed Independent Clinical Social Work licensure (LISW/LICSW) in the state of Minnesota by start date in August 2025.
  • Experience teaching in a CSWE accredited social work program.
  • Experience with coordinating, facilitating, and assessing social work practicums.

  • Evidence of trauma-focused, clinical practice experience.
  • Record of scholarly and/or creative work.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the principles of shared governance.
  • Demonstrated effective leadership experience.
  • Evidence of strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Prior experience in online practicum coordination in a MSW program.
  • Demonstrated interest in the integration of diversity, research, policy, practice communities? expertise, and practice immersion experiences throughout the curriculum.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and engage well with diverse students, faculty, administrators, practicum instructors, and community partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work as a member of a team.
  • Demonstrated experience with CSWE accreditation or reaffirmation processes.
  • Experience advising graduate level students.
  • Demonstrated commitment to applying an honoring, strengths-based orientation to diverse individuals and communities.
  • Experience with field placement management software.
  • Demonstrated ability to have strong, positive relationships with practice communities.
  • Experience collaborating with diverse various stakeholders.
