Position Specific Description

The Regulatory Affairs Analyst will support a six-member team in designing, managing, and implementing enterprise-wide strategies to enhance grassroots advocacy capabilities at the state and local levels.

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record in campaign or issue management, a strong understanding of the political process and electoral politics, and familiarity with traditional campaign tactics, including paid, earned, and social media, community engagement, and building alliances with organizations and partnerships. Reporting to the Executive Director of Strategic Engagement for Regulatory & Political Affairs, the Analyst will work closely with four Directors as well as teams across NEER Development, Marketing and Communications, IT, and FPL External Affairs. The Vice President overseeing the team may assign special projects as needed. The engagement program is focused on creating long-term strategies to deepen NextEra's relationships with key state and local officials, community leaders, and landowners. This program aims to establish an "always-on" approach to engagement, fostering sustained, meaningful connections with priority communities and states.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

-Background in strategic communications, political offices, or state and local government. Corporate experience is highly valued.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across business units.

Location: Based in Juno Beach, FL, with occasional travel (approximately 10%).

Job Overview

Employees in this role support the Regulatory Affairs team and are involved in the Company's projects and assets, including regulation and permitting activities in support of those assets. This position collaborates with different business units and involves familiarity with a variety of political, public affairs, regulatory and legislative concepts, practices, and procedures.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Analyzes and reports on changes in regulations, legislation, or permitting requirements and their expected impacts
  • Assists management in the monitoring of local, state and/or federal regulatory and legislative development to identify issues affecting company's operations and plans
  • Assists in coordinating the representation of organization's interests before state and local regulatory and legislative bodies and/or Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs) and Independent System Operators (ISOs) as applicable
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
