Material Handler - Military Veterans

Canon has several opportunities for Warehouse Material Handlers! These are at least 1 year, temporary opportunities with a growing client of ours in Newport News, VA. We are seeking reliable candidates with prior experience in the field.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Picking, packing, and material movements to support the warehouse activities
  • Responsible for processing shipments, locating inbound materials, and cycle counting
  • Maintains safe, clean and orderly work environment at all times
  • Loads materials onto vehicles, installs strapping, or padding to prevent damage while in transit
  • Safely moves, loads, and unloads product to and from pallet racks
  • Reads orders and/or follows oral instructions to meet scheduled activities as directed
  • Receive materials and verify materials against packing lists to ensure the accuracy of the delivery
  • Works effectively in a team environment and demonstrates flexibility in all assigned tasks
  • Communicate and read effectively (safety rules, maintenance instructions, procedure manuals)
  • Wears personal protective Equipment as required for the job
  • Operates forklift to locate, lift, push, pull and stack products and materials in storage locations
  • Maintain Inventory accuracy and Manufacturing production requirements.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 1-3 years of experience related to Warehouse Inventory or Material Handling
  • Experience working in manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Familiarity with MS Office, WMS and RF scanner devices
  • High school Diploma or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of domestic and international shipping carriers and shipping regulations
  • Proficient use of warehouse equipment (forklift, pallet jack, etc.)
  • Ability to work overtime & meet deadlines
  • May lift and/or move up to 50lbs
