- Greets visitors. Receives, reviews, and clarifies prescriptions. Obtains necessary information for filing of prescriptions. Processes refill requests. Sets up prescription. 2. Counts medication, labels bottle with prescription and auxiliary labels. Fills in-house pharmacy orders. 3. Receives and processes payments for prescriptions and other pharmacy items. 4. Operates cash register and computer cash terminal. Answers telephone. Uses computer terminal to input and retrieve data. 5. Updates computer database to reflect new prices. Ensures the accuracy of the data. Maintains and monitors inventory levels. 6. Assists in determining additions and deletions to inventory. Rotates stock for seasonal adjustments. Places orders to vendors. 7. Ensures adherence to policies and procedures, legal and regulatory compliance including Board of Pharmacy, HIPAA, DEA, USP. Supports organizational and departmental efforts in seeking or maintaining accreditation including Joint Commission, URAC and other federal and state agencies as related to clinical practice. Follows up on orders regarding shipping and billing problems. Monitors contract and retail pricing for medications. 8. Verifies merchandise received against order. Monitors credit adjustments. Verifies invoices for payment. Conducts research related to item availability, contract and retail pricing. Compiles a variety of statistical data. Assists with the preparation of reports and analyses. 9. Assists with preparing and verifying of deposits. Assists with totaling and balancing of daily payment transactions. Performs clerical functions incidental to pharmacy activities. Required Skill/ability 1: Superior customer service abilities and interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a collaborative and supportive team. Ability to interact positively and respectfully with a diverse population. Required Skill/ability 2: Ability to read prescriptions and input prescription information into a computer system in an accurate, efficient manner with considerable speed. Ability to perform the manipulative and record-keeping functions associated with the dispensing of prescriptions and the routine functioning of a pharmacy. Required Skill/ability 3: Demonstrated current proficiency of pharmaceutical and medical terminology, abbreviation and symbols commonly used in the prescribing, dispensing and charting of medications. Required Skill/ability 4: Well-developed critical thinking skills and the use of sound independent judgment in order to troubleshoot and resolve issues. Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions relating to drug purchasing, inventory control and other miscellaneous business functions. Required Skill/ability 5: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated exemplary attendance, punctuality and reliability, as attested by references.
