Summary
Under the general direction of the Technical Manager, the Microbiologist will oversee microbiological testing, inquiries, and projects. This role requires interfacing with internal and external clients as a subject matter expert in microbiology and ensuring that all activities align with quality standards. The Microbiologist will work in a food-manufacturing environment, requiring a commitment to collaboration and maintaining positive relationships within and outside the company.

- Pay rate: $28 - $34/hr
- Shift: Mon - Fri 8am - 5pm
- Duration: Temp-to-Hire (about 6 month temp period)
Responsibilities
- Aseptically obtain microbiological samples from various sources in a manufacturing environment.
- Conduct standard microbiological testing protocols and interpret results.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of testing outcomes.
- Design studies to support technical projects with reliable data.
- Serve as a microbiology subject matter expert.
- Assist with inspections, audits, and plant processes.
- Support quality programs and perform risk assessments.
- Investigate microbiological concerns and provide solutions.
- Lead discussions on microbiological topics.
- Develop detailed reports, written guidance, and presentations.
- Collaborate with third-party microbiology laboratories.
- Provide training to staff as required.
- Order laboratory supplies and equipment as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a focus on microbiology, or a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology.
- 1-3 years of laboratory experience.
- Strong knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs), Good Documentation Practices (GDPs), and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in microbiology.
- High attention to detail with the ability to meticulously follow protocols and record data.
- Strong organizational skills with proficiency in maintaining accurate records.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working in a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
