Student Disability Services Specialist (HEOa) - Office of AccessABILITY, Division of Student Affairs POSITION DETAILS The Student Disability Services Specialist plans and implements support services for students with disabilities, coordinating testing accommodations and assistive technology. This positionwill report to the Associate Director ofAccessABILITY. In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the Student Disability Services Specialist responsibilities include but are not limited to the following duties: Assist with overseeing the development and execution of programs for students with disabilities. Manage testing accommodations, including scheduling and compliance. Train and supervise testing staff on protocols and best practices. Review and verify student requests for accommodations. Communicate testing needs to faculty and provide guidance on implementation. Maintain confidential student records and testing integrity. Organize workshops to promote awareness of disability services. Monitor and support the use of Accommodate software for service management. QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and communication skills, fostering an inclusive academic environment. Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS ??? Master's degree in counseling, clinical psychology, special education, educational psychology or related field ??? Experience in a diverse higher education setting with prior experience in coordinating and evaluating college-level programs ??? Knowledge of best practices in disability services implementation with an emphasis on research assessment and data-informed decision-making, particularly in the areas of learning disabilities and autism spectrum conditions ??? Candidates must have excellent presentation skills and possess a high level of sensitivity to students with disabilities, the limitations their disability presents, and accommodations assigned in a college institution ??? Must have the ability to provide outstanding customer service to students in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment ??? The candidate must possess an understanding of the cultural, social, and educational needs of a multi-ethnic campus community ??? Proficiency in computer software, including Microsoft Suite & Assistive technology, is preferred CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW Assists with planning and providing a comprehensive program of services for students with disabilities. Assists with daily supervision of the unit, including budgets, personnel supervision, and facilities/equipment management Provides guidance and advisement to student organizations, administrators, faculty and others on concerns and issues related to students with special needs Interacts with counselors, disability accommodations specialists, and external community organizations to maintain a broad inventory of available services Presents programs and workshops, and prepares communications to students and others promoting the goals of the unit Organizes and provides for assistive technology and interpretive services May develop and/or review individual educational plans that incorporate individually designed academic support services and accommodations within the guidelines of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) Performs related duties as assigned.
