Assistant Director, Roux Housing About the Opportunity JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Senior Director of Learner Services, the Assistant Director, Roux Housing will have direct responsibility for broadly supporting members of the Roux community in their housing needs, including effective administration and community development for students living in Roux-leased housing (currently 175). Roux Housing is open on evenings and weekends during peak seasons such as, but not limited to, move-in/outs, new student assignments, and summer, co-op, post-doc, and other mobility program participants. Additionally, Roux Housing is open on several University floating holidays and break periods. The Assistant Director must provide evening, weekend, and holiday coverage as needed during these extended business hours. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: The Roux Housing Operations Coordinator will work closely with Northeastern University counterparts in Roux Operations, NU Housing and Residential Life, Billing, and others to ensure the Roux housing operation is aligned with university best practices at all levels. Will have direct responsibility for all customer service inquiries related to new housing agreements, cancellations, and billing including phone calls, emails, Teams/Zoom, and in person inquiries. Collaborates with Housing Vendor to receive final damage billing reports and assess any charges. With housing management partners, coordinates and monitors activities to include but not limited to distribution, tracking, and maintenance of keys. Responsible for monitoring of student eligibility for university housing, and for collaborating to determine room occupancy when eligibility changes and assessing housing charges as applicable based on eligibility change. Respond to student complaints and roommate issues with conflict mediation and resolution strategies. Advice students on local housing resources and strategy for housing outside of the Roux leased properties. Work with Roux Marketing to continually update all materials related to housing opportunities, inclusive of webinars. Create Residential Orientation program that covers basic living and good neighbor protocols. Coordinate and collaborate with member of Roux staff (Managing Director of Strategic Initiatives) living on-site for student engagement and community building opportunities (examples include group fitness/wellness activities, social outings, etc.). Develop and implement educational engagements that address students' personal and intellectual growth. Focus on communal living best practices and cultural adjustment. Respond to emergency and crisis situations during business hours or when on call. If outside of those parameters, contact the appropriate person to assist. Evaluate and assess student behaviors and community trends and provide appropriate interventions. Serve as first level student conduct judicial administrator; communicate policy information and expectations regarding appropriate behavior to residents. Administer sanctions, when necessary, that are educational and support the student's development while holding them accountable to the Student Code of Conduct and residential policies. Collaborate with University resources such as WeCare, Wellness, Office of Preventative Education, University Health and Counseling, Off Campus Education and Support, Network Housing and Relocation, Office for University Equity and Compliance, and Office of Student Conflict and Conflict Resolution to ensure the health and well-being of all students in Roux-leased housing. Address any related issues. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Higher Education Administration, Hospitality Management, Communications, or other field required Flexibility to work on several projects concurrently and must demonstrate sensitivity in working with confidential matters. Candidate must demonstrate sound judgement and analytical skills, attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy, and ability to work under pressure with a positive attitude. Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse environment and possess enthusiasm for higher education and have an overall commitment to excellence in customer service. Experience with housing software or other university systems and Microsoft Excel is preferred. Experience with customer service and with large group public presentations is preferred. Master's degree and 1-3 years' experience on College/University setting with background in Housing & Residential Life Administration or related field preferred.
