PT Professional Tutor, Math Location: Lynn/Danvers, MA Category: Professional Posted On: Thu Oct 17 2024 Job Description: PT Professional Tutor, Math The anticipated work schedule is 10am-3pm Mondays on the Lynn Campus; 10am-2pm Wednesdays on the Danvers Campus; and other hours as assigned Approximately 15-18 hours per week. Non-benefited, MCCC unit position GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Conduct tutoring for mathematics, including drop-in, individual appointment, and/or small group tutoring. Candidates should be able to articulate the value of tutoring (as differentiated from teaching) as a learning resource. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Tutor students taking math courses including but not limited to algebra, statistics, and calculus. Conduct small-group math tutoring or review sessions as assigned. Encourage students to develop a systematic approach to studying that will serve them throughout their college career. Help maintain EAB Navigate records of student attendance and learning progress; Attend required tutor meetings throughout the semester; Assist students in making appointments and logging in/out of center; Perform other duties consistent with the position of Professional Tutor. Job Requirements: Bachelor's Degree required; Experience tutoring and/or teaching mathematics Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment; Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrate qualities of patience and empathy; respect for students of all genders, gender identities, cultural/ethnic backgrounds, ages, and abilities. Successful experience interacting with culturally diverse populations Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or a National background check as a condition of employment. Preferred Qualifications: Community College tutoring or teaching experience preferred Bilingual in Spanish preferred Additional Information: SALARY: $33.95 per hour.
