COORDINATOR HEALTH EDUCATION


Under general supervision, conducts interventions and data collection activities as specified by research protocols and maintains records and prepares reports. Develops educational materials and lesson plans for study specific intervention classes. Reviews and disseminates health related information and identifies appropriate health education tools. Establishes, maintains, and collaborates with community and state health organizations. Recruits study participants (community and hospital-based recruitment) for health interventions. Responds to the unique needs of study participants. May require computer proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Publisher.

Key Duties and Primary Responsibilities:


  • Conduct literature reviews, writing, and submitting manuscripts for publication
  • Screen potential research participants to assess feasibility of study participation
  • Communicate study expectations with participants and train participants on the use of various web-based technologies to monitor exercise and other lifestyle behaviors
  • Evaluate participants' eligibility based on study criteria
  • Provide behavior change counseling to participants enrolled in exercise and weight management trials
  • Work with study participants to establish goals and monitor progress throughout the study
  • Monitor and track participant data including anthropometrics, physical activity/exercise, and other behavioral metrics
  • Communicate with study participants to ensure proper completion of data collection
  • The coordinator will assist with other research-related duties such as project coordination, implementation, management, and reporting (e.g., IRB submission, developing MOPs, scheduling visits, data collection, tracking progress, refining intervention curricula, working in REDCap, preparing reports and publications, preparing study materials, communicating with participants and other study staff)
  • Attend weekly meetings to plan and coordinate research/project activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Hourly Range: $18.85 - $30.65

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field required. Work experience may substitute for education requirement.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with various research-related databases (e.g., Pubmed, EndNote) Personal or group-based exercise training experience
  • Hold or desire to obtain an exercise training certification (e.g., ACSM, NSCA, NASM, etc)
  • Ability to work independently
  • Effective communicator with staff and patients
  • Multi-tasking and time-management skills
  • Proactive and solution-oriented
