Position Specific Description

NextEra Energy Services is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Natural Gas Supply Intern to join our dynamic team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the natural gas industry, working alongside experienced professionals to support our natural gas supply and asset optimization operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in the energy sector, excellent analytical skills, and a willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment.

Focus Areas:


  • Assist in gathering and analyzing data related to natural gas market trends, prices, and supply/demand dynamics.

  • Contribute to the preparation of daily and monthly demand/usage reports for internal use.

  • Assist with the coordination of natural gas supply logistics, including scheduling and nominations.

  • Monitor pipeline transportation and storage activities to ensure timely and efficient delivery of gas supplies.

  • Support the natural gas supply team in reviewing and organizing contracts with suppliers, customers, and transportation providers.

  • Assist in monitoring and reporting on market risks and opportunities.

  • Aid in ensuring that all natural gas supply activities comply with relevant regulations and industry standards.

  • Contribute to maintaining and updating databases and systems for tracking natural gas supply and distribution.

  • Support data entry and quality control processes.

  • Help prepare communication materials and presentations for various audiences.

  • Participate in special projects aimed at improving operational efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Stay current with industry developments and best practices through continuous learning.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in a degree program with a focus in Energy Management, Business, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.

Education, Experience, Skills

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret and manipulate data effectively.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting.

  • High attention to detail with strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

  • Capacity to work independently and as part of a team to achieve objectives.

  • Eager to learn about the natural gas industry and marketing processes.


Job Overview

To be considered for an internship, you must be actively enrolled at a college or university as a full-time student seeking a bachelor's degree or higher. You must also have a current cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher (on a 0.00 to 4.00 scale).

Job Duties & Responsibilities


  • Assists department with assigned projects

  • Completes challenging projects and assignments

  • Presents final project to senior leadership at the end of the internship

  • Assumes responsibility for own travel, lodging, and transportation necessary to be available for the program

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned


Required Qualifications


  • High school grad / GED

  • Maintain active enrollment in a Bachelor or higher degree program

  • Maintain cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
