As a Technical Laboratory Assistant, you will support Optical Monomers Research and Development activities through trials of developmental and commercial lens material chemistries in pilot scale lens-manufacturing lab.

You will provide support for technical issues. Respond to requests for technical support. You may even coordinate with other teams or departments to resolve issues that the team faces. You will also work hands-on side by side with our Scientists and Engineers performing experiments and collect the data that goes into our products.

You will work onsite at our Monroeville, PA facility and report to the Group Leader, Optical Monomer Casting Platform.

Responsibilities:

• Operate an automatic mold-assembling machine to prepare lens-forming mold cavities.


• Perform examination of optical lenses.


• Manage inventory and track what molds are used.


• Performing basic cleaning and maintenance of lab equipment


• Dispensing chemicals for experiments and use.


• Filling up forms, labeling containers and preparing chemicals for shipping. 


• Preparing mixtures following standard operating procedures. 


• Pre-treating samples and submitting them for physical properties testing.


• Conducting spectral and color measurements. 


• Reporting results in electronic lab notebook.

Requirements:

• High School diploma or GED is required.


• Three (3) or more years’ experience working as a technician preferred.


• Mechanically inclined, comfortable with hands-on benchwork, and working with complex equipment.
