Scheduled Hours 37.5 Position Summary Responsible for creating and executing large-scale initiatives to ensure career success for law students, as well as directing the individual short and long term career strategies for a portfolio of students. Leads strategies and initiatives for highly ambitious group of students seeking jobs in a variety of areas, including public interest firms, Wall Street firms, the government, and so forth. Collaborates closely with law school leadership to identify areas for program innovation and improvement. Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities Create, direct, and execute large scale programs and initiatives. Responsible for the creation, execution, and supervision of large scale initiatives approved through collaboration with the team and designed to positively impact the core metrics and goals of the office. Supervise staff involved in executing the initiatives. Create budget proposal and responsible for budget compliance for initiatives. Some examples include, but are not limited to: (1) American Bar Association data reporting and audit management which directly impacts the law school rankings and accreditation (2) mock interview program for 1000 students with alumni in over 30 cities (3) early engagement program for every incoming student before classes begin (4) alumni mentor programs for student body of over 1000 (5) train and supervise Peer Career Advisors to supplement career strategy advising (6) train and supervise regional and practice area specific attorney advising and mentor programs; and more existing and future initiatives. Direct Individual Students Strategies. Manager portfolio of students and alumni to create strategic, customized, and concrete job search strategies with specific deliverables throughout the education, application, and interview process. Review and edit legal writing samples, resumes, cover letters, and all professional communications targeted at all types of legal employers, to ensure placement in the most competitive positions consistent with student goals. Educate students about legal career opportunities in many areas of law to guarantee that students are securing the most ambitious positions for long- term career success. Fully utilize software and databases to record student employment data and effectively advise students in the career search. Support success of students in positions by creatively providing knowledge and expertise to ensure success with legal employers in large law firms, public sector, and a variety of practice groups. Employer and Alumni Outreach. Expand hiring by target employers (geographic, practice area, or employer type) by engaging the employer leadership at large Wall Street law firms, selective government agencies, exclusive public interest fellowships, federal and state judges, elected government officials, corporate executives, and more. Create and execute a strategic plan with deliverable metrics for outreach. Oversee engagement and collaborate with the Advancement Office. Maximize use of data for success. Create and teach professionalism curriculum. Develop curriculum and teach courses related to legal professionalism and writing. Research and stay current on the expectations in the legal market. Supervise Peer Career Advisors and other teaching assistants in execution of the professionalism program. Create clear metrics and data to assess progress of each student and success of the professionalism program. Perform other duties as assigned. Preferred Qualifications Juris Doctor and five years of experience. Bar admission. S pecific practice experience; Specific geographic networks; Specific mentoring experience . Legal writing expertise. Excellent interpersonal skills especially those in the areas of collaboration, conflict resolution, problem solving and decision making; strong organization and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and constituents. Ability to work well without close supervision. Strong general written and oral communication skills. Experience building partnerships with law firms, businesses, agencies, and schools. Experience teaching. Required Qualifications Bachelors degree and five years experience in recruiting from the employer perspective or related experience. Graduate degree may be required depending upon school and/or student's degree. Grade G12 Salary Range $57,300.00 - $97,700.00 / Annually The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
