What is the Solutions Consulting & Engineering (SC&E) Team and why join?

Solutions Consulting & Engineering is an organization that is Customer Focused and Solutions Led. We deliver end-to-end and emerging solutions to drive customer satisfaction, increase profitability and growth.  Our success is enabled by our world-class management consulting, delivery excellence and engineering brilliance. Our goal is to bring together business acumen with full-stack technical know-how to develop innovative solutions for our clients' most complex challenges.

Overview:

The Solutions Architect - Web Services specializes in service solution pursuits in the Infrastructure Solution areas within Engagement Services. This role will be the torchbearer for driving visionary, next-gen enterprise solutions for our customers. This role extends beyond qualifying and helping to shape traditional business opportunities. The Solution Architect will spearhead initiatives that delve deep into advanced data center, digital workspace, mobility, and networking technologies and align these with emerging business needs in Digital, Cloud, Security, AI, and Analytics domains as applicable. Solution Architects lead several pre-sales processes to support the qualification of service opportunities. When a service opportunity is qualified, the Solution Architect leads the Intake, Scoping, Service Design, and Contracting phases of the service lifecycle, developing cost estimates, risk-mitigated pricing strategies, creating proposals, and developing the contract. This is a remote-based position with an estimated 25% travel expectation.

Key Responsibilities:

Consult and Maximize Account Engagement:

  • Work synergistically with WWT account teams and sales units to probe, qualify, and secure business opportunities for Infrastructure Solutions.
  • Support Sales with relevant and current WWT services knowledge to aid in qualification and pursuit decisions.
  • Review opportunities to confirm that qualification standards have been met.
  • Offer advice to the Sales team around related experience with similar engagements, feasibility of a particular type of engagement, and other insights that may influence the decision to pursue the opportunity. For opportunities that are not ready for pursuit, advise the Sales team on how the opportunity could be reshaped to better match WWT’s capabilities while meeting the client’s objectives. For pursuit opportunities, determine what departments and roles will be engaged for the next steps.

 Scoping/Design/Documentation

  • Lead scope discussions and workshops with clients, seeking to understand the client’s business and technical objectives and constraints. Perform detailed discovery and requirements gathering. Engage WWT subject matter experts to assist in scoping.
  • Determine internally how WWT will perform the services in scope. This does not include the technical solution architecture or engineering of the technology products such as hardware selection and software licensing; this is an Engineering responsibility. This phase includes a preliminary timeline, resource planning, risk assessment, estimating and budgeting, preliminary proposal, and preliminary SOW/contract development.
  • Prepare detailed estimates and pricing models leveraging the technical expertise of engineers, architects, and project/program managers.
  • Develop nuanced cost estimates that factor in the TCO and ROI.
  • Craft compelling proposals that highlight not just immediate solutions, but also long-term strategies to benefit our customers.
  • Present proposals and SOWs to clients. Revise scope, timeline, and fees based on client feedback. Develop statements of work that are accurate, detailed, and meet client objectives while contractually protecting WWT from unfunded scope expansion and other risks. Balance winning business with creating engagements that optimized for successful and profitable delivery. Execute approved SOWs and follow internal processes to open projects.

Service Delivery:

  • Guide new engagements through internal setup and initiation processes.
  • Remain aware of the status of engagements. Assist with scope clarification, scope changes, and other activities when needed to support service delivery efforts. When required, lead difficult conversations to address scope changes or issues.
  • Review deals/engagements prepared by other employees for compliance and quality control purposes. Follow detailed documentation on the Deal Review process.
