Job Description:

Parsons is seeking an Electrical Designer in their Markham office in Ontario to join the civil infrastructure group to be part of a team working on projects of Roadways, Bridges, Transitways, Municipal and/or County arterial roads, side streets, multi-use pathways, parking facilities etc.


  • Experience in Roadway Lighting Design and Traffic Signal Design is muat. Preference is given to the Province of Ontario’s Street Lighting and / or Traffic Signal Design experience.
  • Be part of the electrical project team and attend project meetings
  • Perform lighting calculations (AGI software knowledge desired), loading calculations, short circuit calculations, voltage drop calculations and Arc Flash Analysis calculations
  • Ministry of Transportation, Ontario’s work experience is desired
  • Generate one-line diagrams, traffic signals, roadway lighting wiring diagrams, and electrical details
  • Write and edit project construction specifications.
  • Review shop drawings, equipment submittals, perform site observations, and punch lists
  • Coordinate on-site with the electrical contractor and Perform field inspections and provide professional field support as necessary during construction phases.


  • 4-year degree in Electrical Engineering and  1-3  years of related work experience. (desired)
  • Proficient in the utilization of current electrical engineering theories and practices. 
  • Professional Engineer registration is desired.


  • Potential to perform in an engineering team, excellent written and oral communication skills, and a familiarity of industry practices and regulations are desired. 
  • Experience in MTO and other municipal agencies of Ontario is desired.
  •  Proficiency in the use of Lighting Design Software AGI32 is desired.
  • Proficiency in doing Voltage Drop Calculations, short circuit calculations, and arc flash analysis calculations is desired.
  • A strong background in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is desired.
