Responsibilities
The Lead Operator - Lilly Fire Rescue (LFR) is responsible for supporting and executing the Indianapolis emergency preparedness and response plan at various Indianapolis facilities. This position has responsibility to lead/coordinate on-site contracted responders and volunteer emergency responders to manage site emergencies. The position also interacts with, security, fire safety systems, local building staff/management teams and outside agencies (e.g., IFD, IMPD, County board of health, etc.) When not responding to emergency and special events, this position is responsible for the completion of required maintenance, inspection, and training activities.
Basic Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma | GED

Must hold the following certifications:
- Indiana State Firefighter I/II
- Indiana State Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B or higher)

Indiana State Hazardous Materials Technician
- Must be “Level A Suit” personal protective equipment qualified.

Confined Space Rescue Technician
- or willing to get certified as such within first 6 months of employment.

This position is physically demanding and will be contingent upon successful completion of:
- Physical Exam (NFPA 1582 or EHS approved)
- Quantitative “Fit test” for Scott SCBA
- Work Performance Evaluation
prior to scheduling start date.
- Must not be claustrophobic or acrophobic.
- Must hold and maintain a clean driving record.
- Must have the ability to read maps and understand graphical data.
Additional Skills/Preferences
- Incident Command training (NIMS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800)
- Emergency Vehicle Operator Certification (EVOC)
- Outside EMS/Fire Department experience.
- Critical incident stress management experience
- CPR Instructor and Fire Instructor 2/3 are required of the position but not at the time of posting.
Additional Information
- This position supports a 24/7/365 operation and will require shift work.
- Personnel may come in contact with areas that historically contained Cephalosporin’s, Penicillin, and allergens.
- Persons in this position will respond to incidents whose hazards are not yet known.
- Persons may be exposed to biological hazards as a result of EMS and hazardous materials response.
- Fire/Chemical response to immediately dangerous to life/health (IDLH) atmospheres is a possibility.
- Will require successful annual completion of Work Performance Evaluation (WPE)
Schedule
- This position supports a 24/7/365 operation and will require shift work.
- The first two weeks from hire date, employee will operate on a M-F 8a- 4p schedule for orientation.
- Upon successful completion of orientation, employee will be assigned to a shift schedule of 24 hours on and 48 hours off.
