Music Department: Music 11 & 80 Lecturer Pool Position overview Position title: Music 11 & 80 Pre-six Lecturer Salary range: A reasonable estimate for an appointment to teach astandardfive-credit course is $8,282 - $10,186 (based on salary points 1-8), please see the UCSC Salary Scales and refer to the Non-senate Instructional (NSI) Unit 18 Pre-six Lecturer Academic Year salary scale. Instructional Workload Credit (IWC) valuation may vary, and the course salary will be adjusted accordingly. Compensation for Summer Session courses may vary from courses taught during the academic year (see Summer Session Faculty and Lecturer Pay ). Percent time: Variable, based on the course load assigned. Anticipated start: Appointments are contingent on the hiring units instructional need and the availability of funding. This recruitment is valid for initial appointments made in fall quarter 2023 through fall quarter 2024. Initial appointments with effective dates outside of this recruitment period will require an alternative open recruitment. Position duration: Appointments are typically made during one or more quarters of the regular academic year (fall, winter, and spring quarters), but they may also be made during Summer Session. Position Description The Department of Music at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an ongoing pool of lecturers who may be called upon to teach courses at the lower-division course level. We seek applications from outstanding candidates with relevant teaching experience who can teach courses in the Music 11 series and/or the Music 80 series. The course series includes special topic courses such as Introduction to World Music , Introduction to American Popular Music , Music of the Beatles , Film Music, Music of India , History of Jazz , etc. Applicants with expertise in college-level teaching experience or who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the Music Department's undergraduate and graduate programs (Music Ph.D., D.M.A, and M.A.) are strongly encouraged to apply.
